Electing to bat first, the Dutch managed to post a competitive total of 160 runs, with ten Doeschate top-scoring with 53. However, Bangladesh's bowlers, led by Razzak with figures of 3-29, kept the Dutch batsmen in check.
In response, Bangladesh openers Kayes and Imrul got their team off to a solid start, putting on 73 runs for the first wicket. Kayes, who was eventually dismissed for 73, anchored the innings and laid the foundation for Bangladesh's victory.
