A Thrilling Match Ends in Victory

The 1958 FIFA World Cup was held in Sweden from 8 June to 29 June 1958. Brazil defeated Sweden 5-2 in the final match at the Rasunda Stadium in Solna, Sweden. The match was a thrilling one, with five goals being scored in the first half.

The First Half

Brazil opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Vavá and doubled their lead in the 25th minute through Didi. Sweden pulled one back in the 32nd minute through Nils Liedholm, but Brazil restored their two-goal lead in the 35th minute through Vavá again. Sweden pulled another goal back in the 46th minute through Gunnar Gren, but Brazil put the game out of reach in the 68th minute through Pelé. Pelé scored again in the 89th minute to seal a 5-2 victory for Brazil.

The Second Half

The second half was a quieter affair, with Brazil controlling the match and Sweden never really threatening to get back into the game. Brazil's victory was a just reward for their attacking play throughout the tournament. They scored 16 goals in their six matches, with Pelé scoring six of those goals.

The Legacy of the Match

The 1958 World Cup final is remembered as one of the greatest matches in the history of the tournament.
